SAFE PLAY GATE

Preparation supports—but never replaces—supervision

Five resettable reminders help adults pause before play. They remain general prompts and do not certify an activity, space or piece of equipment.

Adults preparing a safe, open-ended play environment

GATE 01

See the whole space

Place attentive adults so changing indoor and outdoor routes remain visible and reachable.

GATE 02

Water within reach

Shallow water requires direct, constant adult attention, prompt spill care and emptying when play ends.

GATE 03

Movement has a landing

Check stability, clear pathways, non-slip landing areas and challenge appropriate to the individual child.

GATE 04

Materials earn their place

Review size, condition, cleanliness, toxicity, sharp edges, long cords and suitability for the youngest participant.

GATE 05

Close with a scan

Account for people, empty water, return equipment, clean surfaces and communicate hazards through authorised procedures.
