Privacy in plain, testable terms
The policy below reflects the exact Android source and release architecture: local-only choices, no Internet permission, no child profiles and no advertising or analytics.

The Android app has no Internet permission, account, advertising or analytics. Its small Session Basket and safety-reminder state stay on the device.
1. Responsible entity, scope and effective date
Balfour Early Learning Centre Incorporated is identified as the responsible entity for Little Field Atlas on Android. This policy covers version 1.0.0 of the app and is effective August 8, 2026. It describes the app itself, not the separate practices of an early learning service, school, email provider, browser or app store.
2. Intended audience and adult role
Little Field Atlas is designed for parents, caregivers, whānau and adult facilitators who prepare and supervise real-world play with young children. It is not designed for children to use independently. Adults remain responsible for active supervision, age suitability, consent, local centre rules and decisions about whether an activity is appropriate.
3. Purpose and core functions
The app provides an offline field atlas of play invitations, adult conversation prompts, a rotating activity selector, weather-based idea filters, a local session basket, visit-preparation guidance, curriculum context and safety reminders. It is an orientation and planning aid, not an enrolment, attendance, assessment, communication or emergency-management system.
4. Data collected, transmitted and not collected
The app does not collect or transmit personal information to Balfour Early Learning Centre Incorporated or to an app-operated server. It does not request names, dates of birth, photos, audio, contacts, identifiers, location, enrolment details, attendance, health information or payment data. No app backend is used.
5. On-device preferences and session state
The app can store a small set of choices locally on the device: up to five selected play-patch identifiers in the Session Basket and the completion state of general safety reminders. These choices are not linked to a child or adult identity and are used only to restore the app experience on that device.
6. Sensitive records, youth records and free text
Little Field Atlas does not provide child profiles, attendance records, learning stories, incident records, medical records, behaviour logs, precise location fields, photo uploads or free-text notes. Users should not attempt to use the app as a substitute for authorised centre recordkeeping or safeguarding procedures.
7. Device permissions
The app requests no dangerous Android permissions. It does not request Internet, camera, microphone, contacts, calendar, notification, storage, Bluetooth or location access. Displaying bundled images and saving the limited local choices described above require no special permission.
8. Accounts, login and account deletion
The app has no registration, login, password, membership or cloud account. Account deletion is therefore not applicable. Local app choices can be removed with the in-app reset controls, by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app.
9. Advertising, analytics and third-party SDKs
The app contains no advertising, analytics, tracking, attribution, social-media, remote-configuration, crash-reporting, payment or behavioural profiling SDK. It does not create an advertising identifier or use information for personalised marketing.
10. Sharing, disclosure and sale
Because the app does not transmit personal data to the responsible entity or an app server, it does not sell, rent or disclose app-collected personal information. The limited choices stored locally remain on the device unless the user independently exposes device contents.
11. External contact and network behaviour
Little Field Atlas itself has no Internet permission. If an adult chooses the email action, Android opens an external email application with a recipient and subject prepared by the app. The user decides whether to write or send anything. Message content and delivery are handled by the selected email provider under its own terms; Little Field Atlas does not read or retain the message.
12. Retention
Session Basket identifiers and safety-reminder states remain locally until the user resets them, clears app storage or uninstalls the app. The responsible entity sets no remote retention period because it receives no copy of this app state.
13. Deletion, backup, restore and device transfer
Reset actions remove the corresponding local choices. Clearing Android app storage or uninstalling removes all app-created state. Android cloud backup and device-transfer backup are disabled for this app, so the app does not intentionally move this local state to another device. Device-level forensic or system behaviour remains outside the app's control.
14. Security measures and limits
The app minimises risk by operating without a backend, omitting network permission, avoiding sensitive input and storing only small non-identifying choices in app-private preferences. No software or device is perfectly secure. Users should protect the device with appropriate system updates, access controls and physical care.
15. Children, families and safeguarding
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children and does not enable profiles, chat, public posting, adult-child messaging, follower systems or precise location sharing. Children should encounter its real-world ideas only with an attentive parent, caregiver or authorised adult. Concerns about a child's safety must follow the applicable service policy and New Zealand safeguarding channels, not an app workflow.
16. Education, health and physical-safety limitations
Content is general educational guidance. It does not diagnose development, provide medical or mental-health care, replace professional advice, certify equipment or guarantee safety or learning outcomes. Adults must consider each child's age, abilities, allergies and circumstances, inspect materials and spaces, supervise closely around water or movement, and obtain qualified help when needed. For urgent danger, use local emergency services rather than this app.
17. Changes and user choices
A future app version may update this policy if functionality changes. The effective date and policy text will be updated before materially different data practices are introduced. Users may choose which ideas to view, whether to save a Session Basket, whether to mark safety reminders and whether to invoke an external email app.
